Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dufferin & District

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dufferin we match children facing adversity with caring adult mentors. The results are life changing relationships that allow children to reach their fullest potential. During COVID our program are in demand more than ever, as children struggle with a lack of social connection and mental health concerns. Throughout the pandemic we have continued to match children with mentors sometimes virtually, sometimes through outdoor social distanced visits. During this time, we have altered the way we do things to ensure our vital programs continue to run while following Provincial safety rules.

Cafe @ The Centre is a ministry of Centre Fellowship Church. We seek to serve the Dufferin area community, specifically Orangeville, through providing a warm and friendly Cafe experience where we serve homemade, nutritious food and at the same time creating a warm, safe and friendly environment. We are people focused. Our purpose statement is: “”Where friends gather to enjoy homemade food straight from the heart!”” We are a great place to connect! We have also felt the pull to specifically begin creating a unique space for seniors and finding ways to serve them in our community. Over the past year we have partnered with the Orangeville Food Bank in providing healthy soups, chili’s and stews for their clientele and specifically seniors with their Fresh Food For Seniors monthly program. In doing this we have begun envisioning how we can do even more for those seniors in our community who may need support with food needs.

Caledon Townhall Players

The aims and objectives of the Caledon Townhall Players are the following, namely: a. The production and presentation of live amateur theatrical presentations of all kinds and of the best quality and to the highest standards of professionalism possible for the benefit and enjoyment of the members of the Club and the community at large; b. The training and education of members of the Club in all aspects of the dramatic arts; c. The preservation and protection of the Old Caledon Town Hall as an historic building, as a theatrical facility and as a community resource for use for purpose compatible with its use as a theatrical facility; d. The promotion, creation and fostering of good fellowship amongst the members of the Club and all persons having an interest in the dramatic arts and between the Club and the community at large; e. The raising by all legitimate means of the funds and resources necessary for the attainment of the foregoing aims and objectives. CTHP is a member ACT-CO (Association of Community Theatres of Central Ontario). We have submitted one or two plays most seasons for adjudication in competition with other member theatre groups. As a result of this, CTHP actors and production staff have been nominated for many THEA awards and received a number of awards as well — a recognition of which we are all extremely proud. We present three plays a year, as a subscription series. To give something back to the community which supports us, we offer three “charity nights” (two per play) to local charitable organizations for their fundraising. The six groups selected are allotted 50 tickets each for selling at the minimum of our ticket price, for which the group will remit $5 per ticket to CTHP to cover CTHP costs. On one occasion, one group requested 100 tickets for their own very successful night.

We desire to see them establish stability in character, build healthy relationships, form a strong sense of identity, discover a clear sense of purpose and direction in life, as well as inspire a willingness to help others. Everything we do is carefully designed to mentor and guide youth toward productive and healthy lives.
