ORANGEVILLE, ON… Show your love for our local charities and nonprofits by nominating your favourite ones for a Rotary Community Choice Grant beginning on February 14th.
For the fifth year running, Rotary Orangeville Highlands is offering five $3,000 grants to nonprofit organizations. It’s a unique program where Orangeville residents get a say – and a vote – in which nonprofits will receive the grants.
“All nonprofits are struggling right now. We want to hear from the community about what programs are helping them the most, what charities are most in need,” said Len Meyer, President of the Orangeville Highlands club.
Nominations can be made between February 14-28 by emailing grants@rcoh.ca or posting a comment on Rotary Orangeville Highlands’ Facebook or Instagram pages. All nonprofits that are nominated will be invited to fill out a simple two-page application form.
Beginning on St. Patrick’s Day – Monday, March 17th – the community will be invited to vote from a list of all the nominees that submitted applications and met the basic criteria. Voting takes place online at www.rcoh.ca and it is one vote per person.
The top three nonprofits receiving the most votes will each be awarded $3,000. The final two grants will be selected from the list by Rotary, with an eye to helping smaller nonprofits that do not have a large social media following. “Valentine’s Day, send us your nominations. St. Patrick’s Day, vote for your top choices. The voting will be open until March 24th and we will announce the recipients by March 31st. It’s a great way to celebrate our community,” said Meyer.
