GoFundMe Campaign
We have now raised over $8,000 through our GoFundMe campaign. This may be the only fundraiser this year, so consider ramping up your efforts, send out more emails!! This money will go a long way to support the hungry in our community.
- Todd is going to look into whether MYFM will advertise on our behalf for this worthy cause. He will get back to us if there is a cost to do so.
- Bryce and Michele have added a short story on Curry Mantra with some pictures of the participants. In her story, she thanked those that have donated.
- Mark reported that 94 of 162 people opened the email that he sent out. He is going to try and produce a list of those that haven’t opened their emails and possibly we can send personal emails to those that we know.
- Carmine is going to send out some emails and post our fundraiser on the McMaster site.
District Grant
Our matching funds from the disaster relief application has been approved. We are getting some money. Don’t know how much or when we will get it.
Choices
- Last week, we delivered supplies and food to Choices.
- Today, we delivered fresh veggies that were donated. Because DejaVu is doing such big orders, her supplier is providing 4 extra boxes each week that she is donating. (Jennifer)
- Choices also received Gourmet Mac and Cheese from Fromage. Fromage is selling this $50 item to us for $20 each week for the next five weeks. Christine has said that they plan to add some date squares as a treat next week.
- On Friday, Philadelphia Kitchen is providing a large meal for the shelter of chicken parmesan, caesar salad, fries and garlic bread. (I am so glad I found them veggies! :0)) This meal will cost $60 and we have agreed to do this for the next five weeks.
- I hope to have feedback from Choices for our next meeting.
- I noticed that they have not installed the basketball hoop and net yet. Eric, at the shelter, has engaged one of the handy young people that will be in touch with me to let them know what tools they need to borrow to get the job done.
- I took two pots of lilies to them today. I understand that there are a few residents who are interested in gardening. I am too!
Future Meetings
- We plan to continue meeting weekly for the time being. I asked those that have not been able to join if there is a better time to meet. We have decided to leave the meeting time at 7:30 Wednesday mornings. If you are able to join for all or any part of the meeting, please do!
- Vanessa from Lavender Blue is going to join our Zoom call next week.
